Hello there, I'm Brittany and I work as a financial advisor in Los Angeles. I made this website (with the help of my husband) to provide some useful personal finance tips for those who need it. I hope you'll make good use of it ...
Brittany Bosco: Personal Finance Tips
Personal finance is one of the most important things that you will ever have to deal with. Oddly given its importance it is a subject that is rarely taught. Instead most people find it necessary to just muddle through. This is far from an ideal situation as it leads to a lot of financial problems. The goal of this site is to help people learn those financial planning lessons that nobody bothered to teach them.
When it comes to personal finance the most important lesson that you have to learn is to make sure that you know where your money is going. We often tell people that they should make a budget so that they can get their debts paid off and save some money for retirement. However for most people this proves to be impossible because they have no idea where they are spending their money. The first piece of advice that we offer to people is track all of your spending so that you know exactly what you are spending and what you are spending it on.
Once you have figured out where your money is going you can start working out a budget. This budget should provide you with enough to allow you to live your life but still save enough money for your future needs. A lot of people have trouble sticking to a budget mainly because of the small stuff. They are able to avoid making the major purchases but then kill their budget with that coffee every morning. This is why it is so important to track all of your expenses, most people have no idea how much they spend on these small daily expenses.
Unfortunately because a lot of people have trouble sticking to a budget they also have a problem with credit card debt. Credit cards have led a lot of people into serious financial difficulties. Mainly they get into trouble because credit cards allow them to spend more than they make. Where they think the money to pay the bills is going to come from is a mystery. Nevertheless people will continue to run up credit card debt that they can't afford. Obviously this is an issue that will need to be addressed if you are going to get your finances sorted out.
Not only is it necessary to get your finances in good enough shape so that you can get your debts paid off, not need those payday loan deals but you are also going to have to be able to save some money. This is an issue for a lot of people who are approaching retirement very quickly and don't have anywhere near enough savings. Most people have grossly underestimated how much they need in order to retire and as a result haven't saved enough. This is something that we have to address when we talk to most people about their personal finances.
